PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minerals Department has launched a new initiative to modernize legal mining operations and strengthen safety protocols across marble and coal mines in the province.
The government introduced updated guidelines aimed at enhancing worker safety, preventing illegal extraction, and encouraging environmentally responsible mining practices. Officials stated that increased inspections and digital monitoring systems will be deployed to high-density mining areas, including Mohmand, Swat, and Dara Adam Khel.
Local mining associations welcomed the emphasis on worker welfare and safety infrastructure, calling for continued investment in modern machinery to replace traditional, high-risk extraction methods. The department expects these measures to boost revenue while safeguarding miners across the region.
